Why Us?
Our Current Building is Old & Tired!
The Battlefords Humane Society takes in approximately 800 animals per year from The Battlefords and surrounding areas.
Of these 800 animals, we find loving homes for about 90% of them.
Our current building has served us well for the past 35 years but it is old and tired.
We need a new facility so we can continue to serve our community.
The state of the facility causes unnecessary stress on our animals which creates behavior and medical issues as well as prolonging their length of stay in our facility.
The State of Things!
The walls are starting to crumble and the drains consistently plug, causing unpleasant odors throughout the facility.
They
deserve
better.
We MUST do better!
The backyard floods in the spring, causing
water to come into the building.
The back door freezes shut in the winter, preventing us from using it.
According to the Kennel and Cattery
code of standards, an animals cage should be big enough for the animal to stretch out comfortably, and be able to keep their food
and water away from their bathroom area.
This is not possible in our current facility.
